A Very Social State of the Union

Tonight’s State of the Union will be filled with politicians, the Washington press corps, pundits and our favorite, the teetor-tottering standing O. And while we’re used to a “real-time” experience, thanks to the live broadcast, this year will be different. During the speech, the White House will be running an “Enhanced” State of the Union on their website, which will feature related charts and information. Of course there will be live web streaming.

After the address, senior White House officials will be fielding questions from the general public via YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and a form through the official White House website. Makes us wonder if Joe Six Pack tweets…

Ah but we digress.

How will you be tuning into this uber-wired Washington event this evening?

And it continues

No surprise here! The Social Network just scored itself eight Oscar nominations!

The incredible film about the contentious, early days of Facebook received the following nominations:

Best Picture, Director David Fincher

Adapted Screenplay, Aaron Sorkin

Original Score, Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross

Actor in a Leading Role, Jesse Eisenberg

Achievement in Cinematography, Film Editing & Sound Mixing

I’m sure most of you have seen the film by now, but if you have time check out the script, which is available for free download on the movie’s official website. You can also snag a few tunes for free from the award-winning score here, courtesy of Trent himself.

Tomorrow marks the 50th anniversary of JFK’s inaugural address. In celebration of this historic speech, the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum created this very cool social media campaign. Users can visit Ourjfkspeech.org, sign in via Facebook, Twitter or webcam, and get assigned a line from JFK’s address.

I have a dream.

Golden Globes!

Congratulations to all the winners and nominees at tonight’s Golden Globe awards! We especially want to extend a big WELL DONE! to The Social Network, which took home four Golden Globes tonight, including Best Picture!

Ohio!

Never forget your roots.

Talk about an entrance!

We’d still rather go on a date with “The Most Interesting Man in the World,” but this guy is a close second. No wonder he tops the viral video charts with more than 2 million views last week!

Working late music

No one ever said it was easy. We work LATE. All hours for our clients. Sometimes you need a bumpin’ tune for a little inspiration. A little for your listening pleasure.

Verizon iPhone 4 Announced

Free at last! Free at last! At a press event this morning Verizon President and COO Lowell McAdam joined Apple COO Tim Cook to make the much-anticipated announcement to offer the iPhone 4 starting next month. For years iPhone users have been criticizing the lackluster service offered by AT&T.

While no carrier is perfect, thousands of angry AT&T users have been eagerly awaiting this day and are ready to jump ship. Even The Woz wants one.

During the announcement, McAdam discussed the reliability of Verizon’s network and ability to support data.

Hopefully this competition will lead to better service and pricing from AT&T (we agree with The Woz: competition is good). We should note that not all of AT&T’s customer service issues (upgrade options) are their fault. They do stem from the tight contract they have with Apple. It should be interesting to see if Verizon will suffer from some of the same problems.
